Introduction of Ocean University of China

Ocean University of China (OUC) was founded in 1924. It is a key comprehensive university under the direct administration of the Chinese Ministry of Education, with strengths in oceanography and fisheries and a complete range of disciplines. It is also one of the key universities in the country's "Project 985" and "Project 211". In September 2017, it was included in Class A of the country's plan of building "Double First Class Universities”.  

OUC has three campuses, namely Laoshan, Yushan and Fushan, occupying 160 hectares. The new campus on Qingdao's west coast is under construction. The university has 21 colleges and a teaching center of fundamental courses.

OUC has a total of 27,800 full-time students, including over 15,900 undergraduate students, 9,100 master's students and 2,010 doctoral students. The university has more than 1,000 students from more than 80 countries.

OUC is the host institution of Chinese Government Scholarship, Confucius Institute Scholarship, Marine Scholarship of China, Credit Student Scholarship for China-US Humanities Exchange, China-Europe Credit Scholarship and Qingdao Municipal Government Scholarship for international students in China. It also offers the OUC President Scholarship for international students.

Nine disciplines (fields) of the university are ranked among the top 1% of ESI global research institutions, including Earth Science, Botany and Zoology, Engineering Technology, Chemistry, Materials Science, Agriculture, Biology and Biochemistry, Environmental Science and Ecology, and Pharmacology and Toxicology.

OUC is known as one of the "most beautiful campuses in China". The campus of OUC, together with the clear blue sky, tall trees and European-style buildings, form a wonderland with the most beautiful sceneries.

Ocean University of China passed the first batch of national quality certification for studying in China in 2016.

Detailed Accommodation

Yushan Campus (5 Yushan Road), Jinhai Court;
International Student Apartment, Building 21, 238 Songling Road, Laoshan Campus.
Students can check in at the international student apartment on the day of registration. They should pay the accommodation fee according to the semester of checking in. Government-funded students and self-funded students should live in the designated apartment according to the arrangement of the school. Free accommodation is available during holidays. Self-funded non-degree students should pay during holidays (accommodation fee is not refundable if students check in or check out during the breaks). When checking in, please read and sign the "Ocean University of China International Student Accommodation Agreement" and "Accommodation Registration Form" carefully.
According to the Chinese law, international students must register for temporary accommodation at foreign-related hotels, apartments that are approved by the Public Security Bureau or local police station within 24 hours of arriving in a Chinese city, otherwise they will be punished. Please keep the registration form of temporary residence for use when applying for a residence permit visa.
