Shandong Jianzhu University (SJU) is situated in Jinan, the beautiful capital city of Shandong Province, P. R. China. Shandong Province has a time-honored history and has served as a pivotal cultural and religious site for Taoism, Chinese Buddhism, and Confucianism. Shandong has emerged as one of the most populous and most affluent provinces in China. Jinan is also called “Spring City” and has a considerable number of tourist attractions such as Baotu Spring, Daming Lake and Qianfo Mountain.
Shandong Jianzhu University is an engineering-based multidisciplinary university specializing in construction, as well as engineering, science, management, literature, arts, law and agronomy. The campus is located in emerging Easter part of Jinan, the City of Spring with a time-honored cultural history and beautiful natural landscapes, adjacent to the East Jingshi Road to the south, the Century Avenue to the north, the Jinan Administration Service Center and Jinan Olympic Sports Center, boasting its superior geographical location and convenient transport. Shandong Jianzhu University was approved to be one of the first well-known universities for molding talents in Shandong province, talents with Ph.D. degree in Technology and Theory of Green Buildings for special purposes in China, and one of the first construction units approved by Colleges Collaborative Innovation Center in Shandong Province.
The campus covers a land area of more than 2500 mu, with a building area of over 700,000 sq.m.. The university has 17 schools. It offers 57 undergraduate programmes , 1 PhD programme, 14 first-level master's degree programmes, 53 second-level master's degree programmes, 6 academic master's degree programmes. It has a current enrollment of 25,000 full-time students from 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. It has 1 key laboratory jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Shandong Province, 3 disciplines with professorship of Taishan Scholar, 13 provincial key laboratories and courses, 1 provincial intangible cultural heritage research base, 1 provincial University (focusing on the humanities) and social science research base, 7 provincial engineering and technological research centers. The library has a collection of many books, including over 1,880,000 books and 1,150,000 e-books. The University owns RMB 230 Million worth of teaching and research equipment. It also owns the modern school internet and provides digital atmosphere on campus.
SJU has 1,997 staff including 1,323 full-time academic staff, among which 666 have professor titles, 26 are PhD supervisors, 314 are supervisors of master’s students. The university has 3 academicians shared with other universities, 5 members of New Century National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project, 16 winners of State Council Experts for Special Allowance, 1 national outstanding teacher, 13 national prominent teachers, 1 full-time Distinguished Taishan Scholar Professor, 12 Distinguished Taishan Scholar Professors and Distinguished Overseas Taishan Scholar Experts, 17 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in Shandong, 9 provincial outstanding teachers, 13 provincial prominent teachers.
The university focuses on international exchanges and cooperation. With an open mind, the university has established connections with more than 40 universities from more than 20 countries and regions, such as the USA, the UK, Canada, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and many other countries and regions. It also launched 7 joint-programmes and dozens of student academic visiting programmes. The university attaches importance to inviting high-end foreign intelligence to improve the international level of cultivation. The university was the first that was authorized to recruit overseas students. Students from all over the world are warmly welcome to study in SJU.
