Sanquan Medical College, founded in 2003, was identified as an independent college by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China in December 2003. In February 2009, the cooperative education agreement with a fund of 1.5 billion yuan was signed by Xinxiang Medical University and Zhongmei Healthcare Group to boost the development of Sanquan Medical College, marking the beginning of a brand-new era of Sanquan.
Characterized by a unique “classical academy + school” educational pattern, Sanquan now comprises of 16 schools (or departments) such as the School of Basic Medicine and the School of Nursing, 6 academies such as Renzhi and Xihe, as well as 30 administrative departments including teaching affairs department and student affairs department. In our full-time undergraduate (including students upgrading from junior college to university) and junior college programs, 23 undergraduate majors or research directions and 7 college majors have been established, covering medicine, management, science, engineering and literature. Sanquan now has 22,334 students on campus guided by 1173 full-time teachers with 43% of them owning associate professor or equivalent titles and 78% of them owning master or higher degrees, as well as 210 experts from higher education institutions or enterprises.
Under the principles of “society-oriented development strategy, all-rounded quality education, talent-focused medical cultivation”, Sanquan is dedicated to becoming “a local, quality, distinctive, practical university focusing on health care services”, while steadily following its mid-term development strategy of “transformation, intension development and distinction”. By giving full play to the critical opportunities emerged from the “Healthy China 2030” plan and reforms of national educational system, Sanquan has always been forging its characteristics and strengths, and established a major cluster with 5 medical services including modern medical equipment and technology, biomedicine, elderly care and rehabilitation, modern health, and medical management, with modern medical services as its core. Sanquan has always been proactively contributing talent and knowledge support to local economical and social progress. A total of 30,940 students have graduated from Sanquan in the past 16 years, and their Alma Mater has grown into a higher education institution with prominent advantages and uniqueness.
From cooperation with enterprises, major clusters, education patterns, to brand building, Sanquan has achieved remarkable achievements both in its education and social influence. Special reports have been broadcast by national authoritative media such as “CCTV News Broadcast”, China Education Daily, and popular media such as Sina Weibo, Toutiao, etc. Besides, Sanquan is a National Quality-Oriented Education Demonstration University awarded by the National Working Committee of Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education, a Training Base for Chinese Doctors of Humanistic Medicine by Chinese Medical Doctor Association of the National Health Commission of the PRC, a “Vice-President Level Organization” of Henan Private Education Association and Henan Private Education Research Association, and a “Vocational Skill Appraisal Station” approved by the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Henan Province. Meanwhile, honorary titles of Sanquan include National Advanced Independent College, National Advanced Institution of Private Education, Excellent Organization of Graduate Employment of Henan Colleges and Universities, Top Ten Private Universities with Domestic Influence for the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening Up, Most Competitive Universities in Henan, Brilliant Private Institution of Higher Education in Henan Province, Excellent Private University in Henan Province, and so on.
