National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST) is co-founded by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Ministry of Education. NCNST is a subsidiary non-profit organization of CAS which enjoys full financial allocations with a status of independent non profit legal entity. The center was officially founded on December 31, 2003, with CAS, Peking University, and Tsinghua University as its initiators and co-founders.
NCNST engages in basic and applied researches involving four areas: nano-fabrication & nano-devices, nano-materials & nanostructures, nano-biotechnology & nano-medicine, nano-structure characterization & Measurement, theoretical and computational Nanoscience. It focuses on basic researches in nanoscience and technology with important potentials in fundamental studies and application prospects. Besides, NCNST provides technical support services to domestic and international organizations and researchers in nanoscience and technology through its advanced research platforms. It aims to achieve an open organizational infrastructure, an internationalized research management and a world-class public technological platform and research base.
With 17 years' efforts by NCNST people, and support form government and society, NCNST now has grown into a research institute in nanoscience and technology with international influence.
NCNST has a professional and vigorous team of high-quality talents in research, technical support and management, ensuring the competitiveness and sustainable development of the institute. We now have 314 regular staff, including 80 professors, 70 associate professors, and over 100 technicians.
NCNST has enrolled over1000 graduate students since 2005. And now, more than 400 graduate students, from diversified background in physics, chemistry, materials, biology, medicine etc., conduct the interdisciplinary research enthusiastically in the center. 15% of students in the center are from more than 15 countries, chasing graduate degree.
Here, students are provided with the cutting-edge nanotechnology information, international conferences, trainings of 150 world-class advanced instruments, and core values of students’ culture: Openness, Innovation and Cooperation.
