Introduction of China-UK Low Carbon College, Shanghai Jiao Tong University

China-UK Low Carbon College (LCC) was established by Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU)(QS rankings: No.47) with the joint efforts of the University of Edinburgh (UoE)(QS rankings: No.20) and Shanghai Lin-gang Government. As the first domestic low carbon college, LCC aims to become a world-class innovative higher education and research institute with international influence, which provides graduate education, scientific research, executive training, and innovation and incubation.

Since its establishment on 18th May 2017, LCC has been focusing on research and education in low carbon energy, low carbon environment, carbon finance, carbon management and low carbon cities. In September 2018, with the launch of the SJTU Lin-gang Campus, LCC officially settled in Lin-gang, opening a new chapter in its development.

Drawing on expertise from the SJTU advanced research in energy, environment, finance and management, combined with the knowledge and experience from world-class universities such as the University of Edinburgh and University College London, LCC intends to promote the creation of a low-carbon society and contribute to the sustainable development of China and the world.

Graduate Education: Advisory System

Students are offered opportunities to get a double master degree at the University of Edinburgh in Year 2 if they meet the entry requirements of UoE. Double degree students will be awarded Master’s degree from both SJTU and UoE.

Faculty

LCC currently has 20 full-time faculty and 40 adjunct faculty.

Our faculty members are world- leading experts in the area of climate change and all obtained PhD degree from world-leading universities with education or research backgrounds overseas.
