5. For programs taught in English
All international applicants for admission to any SJTU program must
provide evidence that their English language proficiency meets the minimum requirements for admission. Being born in a native English-speaking country is not a proof of your English proficiency. You will be deemed to have satisfied the English language requirements if you can provide evidence that you meet one or more of the following criteria:
i) English Language Tests
ii) Prior study in the medium of English
a) English Language Tests
SJTU recognizes a number of English Language tests and English
Preparation Courses which can be undertaken to meet the University's English language requirements. These are set out in the following table, together with the minimum results required. The test/score must be valid till the year of application. For example, the
TOEFL must have been undertaken no more than two years prior to the commencement of the program at SJTU, i.e., the test must be dated on or after 1 January (two years prior) for Fall Semester intake.
b) Prior study in the medium of English
If you have successfully completed an assessable Senior Secondary qualification or a post-secondary/tertiary study at an accredited university from an English-speaking country you do not have to prove proficiency in English provided the qualification was:
i) Taught and examined in English
ii) Completed no more than two years prior to the commencement of the program at SJTU. iii) The statement or certificate must be on official headed paper, and must be the original document.
* English-speaking countries recognized by SJTU international graduate programs include: American Samoa, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Canada, Fiji, Gibraltar, Ghana, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, The Gambia, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom (including
Northern Ireland), United States of America, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
c) Applicants for IMBA program taught in English offered by Antai College of Economics and Management are required to provide a certificate of IELTS 5.5 / TOEFL 90pts or above. Applicants for IMBA program taught in Chinese offered by Antai College of Economics and Management are required to provide a certificate of HSK Band 5 220pts / HSK Band 6 180pts or above.
d) Applicants for EMBA program taught in Chinese offered by Antai College of Economics and Management are required to provide a certificate of HSK Band 5 180pts, unless applicants who are native Chinese speakers or graduated from Chinese universities taught in Chinese.
e) Applicants for Full-time MBA program taught in English offered by Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance shall take GMAT or GRE and submit the score (GMAT code: 6QS-S6-21, GRE code: 4100), or IELTS ≥ 5.5, or TOEFL ≥ 90, unless applicants meet the requirements for "Prior study in the medium of English" in Clause 1b. Applicants for Part-time MBA program taught in Chinese offered by Shanghai
Advanced Institute of Finance are required to provide a certificate of Chinese proficiency, with HSK 5 score of no less than 180, unless applicants meet the requirements for "Prior study in the medium of Chinese" in Clause 2b; or applicants could obtain pre-admission result from SAIF MBA interview.
f)Applicants for EMBA program taught in Chinese offered by Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance shall participate in the interview and examination of SAIF EMBA and meet the admittable qualification.
1. Passport-sized photo
A passport-sized photo taken recently of the applicant.
2. Photocopy of valid passport
With name, passport number & expiration date, and photo included.
3. English proficiency test certificate
For example, IELTS or TOEFL, only for applicants whose native language is not English.

4. Bachelor's Degree diploma
Applicants who are in their final year of study may provide a student status instead. But applicants must make sure that their degrees will be awarded before their registration.
5. Undergraduate transcript
Academic Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization. Both original and official English translated version are required.
6. Two Recommendation Letters
Written in English from two respectable professors, including professors' contact number, email address and handwritten signature.

9. Other qualifications, evidence of excellence and relevant experience
Research or working experience in China may be an advantage.
Having some familiarity with Chinese language. Applicants should indicate familiarity with Chinese language through records from formal language training.
Research assistance or related working experience in universities, think tanks, NGOs, the media and other agencies may be an advantage.
10. Publications
Publications are not expected, but if available, details should be provided.
11. Supporting Documents: Certificate of Good Conduct
Q: If I failed to get the scholarship, is the money refundable?
A: No, because the application process for this scholarship is complicated and hard to deal with. We need a very long time to help you apply it. As a result, it is not refundable.
Q: When can I know the result whether I get the scholarship or not?
A: Generally, the result will come out around mid-February for Spring Intake and around May to June for Autumn Intake.
Q: When will I get the admission documents?
A: The admission documents, including Admission Letter, Scholarship Confirmation and Visa Letter, will be delivered to you 1-2 months before the course starts.
Q: Why should I pay the service fee in advance?
A: Scholarship application takes time, effort and resource in both CUCAS and universities, and the process is irreversible. In case of casual applications and attempts, we charge service fee in advance. There is no extra cost or hidden charge.
