Documents You Need to Provide (Application Documents Sample)
Note: If you want to book our translation service, please pay and book it at least 2 weeks before the application deadline for submission of all documents;
If you want to book our guardian service, you need to pay and book it 2 months before the application deadline, just in case your application fails because of failed to submit application documents in time.
1. Application form.
2. Notarized High School Diploma:
If the applicant is a student, he/she must submit a certificate of enrolment issued by the school he/she is attending. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
3. Transcripts:
Transcripts should be including all courses taken in high school up to the most recent semester. The transcripts should be issued and stamped by the Registrar's Office of the school that you are attending or the relevant student management office. Transcripts should be provided in Chinese or English. For languages other than Chinese or English, an English translation and notarization are required.
4. Language Certificate:
Chinese-Taught Program,requirement of HSK Level and Score(2 years validity)as following :
(1) majors related to science,engineering, economics and management, the requirement is the new HSK test Level 4 and a minimum score of 180.
(2)majors related to humanities and foreign languages, the requirement is the new HSK test Level 5 and a minimum score of 180.
5. China Scholastic Competency Assessment(CSCA) transcript, scanned document.
According to Document No. 47 〔2025〕 of the China Scholarship Council (CSC), applicants applying for the Chinese Language undergraduate program at the School of International Education who can provide a valid HSK 4 score which met the corresponding admission requirements can be exempted from the Arts Chinese subject in the CSCA test. (Chinese Language (Business and Economics) requires HSK 4 score of 180 or above; Chinese Language (International Chinese Education) requires HSK 4 score of 210 or above and HSKK Intermediate score of 60 or above.)
6. Self Statement/Study Plan:
The language should be written in English or Chinese, not less than 600 words, please following “Attch 2 Self Statement Study Plan” for more details.
7. Recommendation Letter:
A letter of recommendation from your high school principal or teacher(Signature of referee with email address and contact number). Please following “Attch 3 Recommendation Letter” for more details.
8. Foreigner Physical Examination Form:
The applicant should strictly follow the items required in the “Foreigner Physical Examination Form”, which must be completed in Chinese or English. The Foreigner Physical Examination Form will be invalid if the following items are missing: pages,self-photo, a cross-page stamp over the photo and the form or a signature and a stamp of physician and hospital.Please following “Attch 4 Foreigner Physical Examination Form” for more details.
9. Blood Test Report:
The Blood Test Report should include results of HIV, Syphilis/V.D.R.L, HbsAg and HCV.
10. Passport Photo Page and Blank Page:
Scan copy of Passport Photo Page and Blank Page. The passport expire day should later than September 2026.
11. Certificate of No Criminal Conviction:
It needs to be issued by the relevant department of the applicant’s country, and the validity period is six months. If it is not possible to provide it at the application stage, the Undertaking for a Clean Criminal Record in attachment 5 can be signed as a temporary substitute document. Please following “Attch 5 Undertaking for a Clean Criminal Record” for more details.
12. Others:
(1)Financial Certification(The deposit certificate issued by the bank in the applicant's name of not less than RMB 50,000 or equivalent in foreign currency.This is limited to the applicant at his/her own expense);
(2)If applicants have already been to China before, please attach the entry and exit visa page as well;
(3)one photo(3cm*4cm);
(4)Art majors need to submit 2 works of art;
(5)As of September 1, 2026, applicant under 18 should provide relevant materials for notarization of guardians.

I: Further Explanation of Documents You Need to Provide:

*1. Passport
-A clear, full-color scan of your passport information page, showing your name, passport number, expiration date, and photo.
-Some universities may also require blank visa pages, so you are advised to upload a few blank pages as well.
*2. Photo
-A recent passport-sized ID photo (2 x 2 inches) with a plain white background.
-Full face visible, no headwear (except for religious reasons).
-Taken within the last 6 months.
3. Highest Degree Graduation Certificate
-A formal graduation certificate of your highest completed education level (e.g., Senior High School, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree).
-If the document is not in Chinese or English, it must be translated into Chinese or English and notarized by an authorized translation agency or relevant authority. Self-translations are not accepted.
4. Highest Degree Academic Transcripts
-Formal academic transcripts of your highest completed education level (e.g., Senior High School, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree), covering ALL academic years, NOT just the final year.
-If the document is not in Chinese or English, it must be translated into Chinese or English and notarized by an authorized translation agency or relevant authority. Self-translations are not accepted.
5. Chinese Language Proficiency Certificate For Chinese Medium Programs
-For Bachelor’s degree programs taught in Chinese, HSK Level 4 or above with a minimum score of 180 is usually required.
-For Master’s degree programs, HSK Level 5 with a score of 180 or above is generally required. A few universities may require HSK Level 6.
-Higher scores and levels are preferred.
6. English Language Proficiency Certificate For English Medium Programs
-IELTS (6.0 or above) or TOEFL iBT (90 or above) is generally preferred.
-If you are unable to provide these test results, you may submit alternative proof, such as a Duolingo English Test score or an official English proficiency certificate issued by your previous school/university, stating that the medium of instruction was English.
-Higher scores are preferred.
7. Non-criminal Record Certificate
-Please note that this document is generally valid for only 6 months(Few may require 3 months). For instance, if you submit your application in March, your non-criminal record must have been issued no earlier than September of the previous year.
-Obtain this certificate from the local police station of your current residence, confirming that you have had no criminal record during the 6 months prior to the date of issuance.
-If you are currently in China, the certificate must be issued by the local Chinese police.
-If the document is not in Chinese or English, it must be translated and notarized by an authorized agency or relevant authority. Self-translations are not accepted.
8. Physical Examination Form
-Download the form template, print it, and bring it to a hospital for the required medical tests. The hospital will complete the form with your results.
-The medical examination must cover all items listed on the form.
-Ensure your photo is attached and the form is stamped and signed by the hospital after the examination.
-The medical results are valid for 6 months only, and few universities will require the report you did within the past 3 months.
-Forms that are incomplete, lack a final physician’s suggestion, missing the attending physician’s signature, official hospital stamp, or applicant’s sealed photo or contain abnormal examination results will be considered invalid.
-The document must be in English or Chinese.
II: If you ever studied in China, you MUST provide these extra documents:
*1. A Non-objection Transfer Certificate(无异议转学证明).
Issued by your previous Chinese university. This document should include your personal information, academic performance (including attendance), estimated graduation date, and your current university’s approval of your transfer application. It must also contain the university’s contact information (email and phone), issue date, and official stamp.
*2. Scanned copies of all passport pages with entry and exit stamps for China.
*3. Scanned copies of all visa pages (X1, X2, T, or others) and residence permit pages (if applicable).
4. A Recommendation Letter From Previous Chinese University.
Some universities may also request a recommendation letter from your previous university or other supporting documents.
III: If you are under 18 years old, you MUST provide these extra documents:
*1. Notarized Guardian's Letter of Commitment
-Students under 18 must find a Chinese guardian who resides in the same city as the university you are applying to, and complete the notarization process as guided in our tutorial video.
-Upload a scanned copy of the notarized Guardian’s Letter of Commitment. This document must be certified in your home country and notarized in China.
-Please note that a Notarization of Declaration (声明公证) issued in China is eventually required.
-A scanned copy is acceptable at the initial stage. If the university later requires the original document or additional materials, we will inform you.
-For some universities accept Beijing citizens as guardian, guardian services are available on CUCAS. Learn more here.

Q: If I failed to get the scholarship, is the money refundable?
A: Yes, please refer to our "Terms & Conditions".
Q: When can I know the result whether I get the scholarship or not?
A: Generally, the result will come out around mid-February for Spring Intake and around May to June for Autumn Intake.
Q: When will I get the admission documents?
A: The admission documents, including Admission Letter, Scholarship Confirmation and Visa Letter, will be delivered to you 1-2 months before the course starts.
Q: Why should I pay the service fee in advance?
A: Scholarship application takes time, effort and resource in both CUCAS and universities, and the process is irreversible. In case of casual applications and attempts, we charge service fee in advance. There is no extra cost or hidden charge.
